The story of the Brändle hotelier family at the Arlberg goes back three generations to the 1920s. Back then, grocer Karl Brändle moved from the Rhine Valley to the Arlberg to open a new business. He served for many years as mayor of Klösterle and was a co-founder of the Albona cable car in Stuben, which still takes you closer to the peaks today.
Karl Brändle was also successful as a hotelier. In Langen am Arlberg, he built the Arlbergerhof in 1932 together with architect Hans Fessler, and in 1962 he built Hotel Albona in Stuben, which his son Karl-Heinz continued to run with his wife Sigrid.
Over the course of two centuries, the former “Gasthaus zur Alten Post” in Stuben has evolved into today’s hotel. Architect Fessler also left his mark here. Since 2002, this traditional house has been owned by the Brändle family. Under the name APRÈS POST HOTEL, Thomas and Irene Brändle have led “the Post” into a new era following a careful renovation and extension. The old cash register at the hotel reception still recalls the days when letters and parcels were transported over the Arlberg by horse-drawn carriage.
